donations, anyone? UPDATED!!!

 UPDATE:
We just got word that an anonymous donor would like to give us a matching grant up to $3500! That means if we raise $3500, we will have the $7000 needed to be fully funded! This will include our plane tickets for 2 trips, in country fees, the whole kit and Kaboodle! This is VERY exciting news! If you'd like to give a tax deductible donation, please send your check here:

TAX DEDUCTIBLE DONATIONS:
International CARE
PO Box 1603
Bel Air, MD 21014
(*please include a separate note referring to Jeff & Katie Seevers adoption)

God has been soo faithful! I know that He will provide the rest of these funds needed to get our sweet B***** and M***** home!

It's hard to believe that this is real. Jeff and I are going to Africa next month... to meet our kids... to go to court and hopefully pass on July 21st!!! It's so unreal, and amazing all at the same time!

Honestly, I can't even believe that I am typing this post!! This is one of the posts that I've dreamed of writing... our donation list. Haha. I know that sounds kind of crazy, but if I'm writing this, it means we're going to Africa soon! Well, we're leaving in 24 days! Can I hear an AMEN???! God is soo good.

We are going to take donations with us. For those of you in Ohio who would like to help us, please let me know ASAP and we can take them along. Here are some things we will take:
diapers (all sizes)
unscented baby wipes
bibs
hand sanitizer
vitamin D drops and Iron drops for babies and children
infant and children's vitamins
powdered formula (target brand is fine)
children's clothing (new or like-new)
Croc shoes for older kids(Avent for 8 and 12 oz.)
diaper rash cream (A+D original oinment is preferred)
development toys for babies and toddlers
bubbles
children's DVDs and CDs
sidewalk chalk
puzzles for young children
paper towels
Tri-vi-sol multivitamins (0-6 months)
Poly-vi-sol (6 months-2 years)
Chewable multi-vitamin (2-9 years)
Infant and Children's Tylenol (generic acetaminophen is fine)
Infant and Children's Motrin (generic Ibuprofen is fine)
Neosporin
Benadryl liquid/ elixir
chewy granola bars
fruit snacks
lollypops
cheese crackers

We will be delivering these items to both the orphanage where our kids came from, as well as the transition home where they've been since February. We'd also like to have some of these snacky items on hand to give to the kids on the street who are hungry. Starvation is very real in Ethiopia, and we always want to be prepared to give some sort of food item to those that we meet on the street.
We do still need to raise about $7,000 to be fully funded, so a monetary donation would be appreciated as well.
Even more important than these donations, we really need prayer coverage. We are very aware that the enemy doesn't like adoption, and when God's people adopt, it can feel at times that we have a target on our back. Jeff and I have had to step up our spiritual warfare over our family, as we've felt defeated, overwhelmed, and just plan exhausted at times.
Ephesians 6:10-18  has been on my lips a lot lately.
Finally, be strong in the Lord and in his mighty power. Put on the full armor of God, so that you can take your stand against the devil's schemes. For our struggle is not against flesh and blood, but against the rulers, against the authorities, against the powers of this dark world and against the spiritual forces of evil in the heavenly realms. Therefore put on the full armor of God, so that when the day of evil comes, you may be able to stand your ground, and after you have done everything, to stand. Stand firm then, with the belt of truth buckled around your waist, with the breastplate of righteousness in place, and with your feet fitted with the readiness that comes from the gospel of peace. In addition to all this, take up the shield of faith, with which you can extinguish all the flaming arrows of the evil one. Take the helmet of salvation and the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God. And pray in the Spirit on all occasions with all kinds of prayers and requests. With this in mind, be alert and always keep on praying for all the Lord's people.
So please join with us in prayer. Please cover us with God's Word. He's doing an amazing thing in us and we are so very excited to be a part of this.
Blessings,
Katie
and Jeff

  1. Katie,
I just posted on the Yahoo Group and then hopped over here. We met at Summit, but it's such a small world. I noticed your housing your adoption fund at ICARE. Our ministry, Grafted Families, just merged with ICARE. Dan is a great friend of ours. Wait until I tell him I got to meet one of the ICARE families :) He'll be stoked!
After coming home from Summit, we applied to the ET program with AWAA. We asked for siblings are open to out of birth order and HIV.
Have a great trip to ET. Can't wait to read about it.
